In 1997 we bought the old Eisenstein house with me having a DREAM of making it into a bed and breakfast and retreat for people from all walks of life to get away from the crazy pace, to retreat, relax, refocus and get refreshed.
Seven years later I gave up the DREAM due to life’s unfair circumstances. It was then my life started going in a downward spiral. For the next two and a half years life was tough in every area. My passion for life, my marriage, and for God was nearly gone. I felt I was aimlessly going nowhere, and I wanted to run away.
It was in my tough time that I also found out I had Hepatitis C. I knew it would take some heavy duty treatments for me to be healed and I would have to slow down my life for a good three to four months while going through the treatments for me to be healed. Someone once said to me, there are speed bumps in life and this truly was a speed bump in mine.
It was during my treatment time, that I once again began spending a lot of time praying and reading the Bible. God in his tender way began speaking to my heart again about my DREAM (that had totally died). It was His DREAM for me and I will give an account to Him at the end of my life, whether or not I did what he wanted me to do. WOW! There is so much more to say, but too little space.
I now have this passion to see God’s people carry out His plan for their life. No matter what denomination you might be, or whether you know God in a personal way or not, He loves each one of us so much, and He has placed gifts in each one of us. He has a unique plan for each of us. Living out God’s plan for us is what fuels our life; it’s what fills our tank.
I have been living my DREAM now since April 2007 and I have realized the importance of not only having a DREAM, but how important it is to live your DREAM. We have gifts within our hearts not only for ourselves and for our families, but for others also. We each have a part to play in this life, and sometimes it takes quieting our busy lives to retreat and listen to our hearts, to God’s Spirit.
Here are a few questions that are good to ask ourselves. What is it you really love to do? Are you living your DREAM, if not, why not? Do you have a plan so you can live your DREAM?
I will have to say it has not always been easy. Getting the retreat going took a while, but the rewards outweigh the hard times. I’m living my DREAM touching people. I once read somewhere that the graveyard is one of the richest places on the face of the earth because so many people take their DREAMS to the grave with them. WOW, I didn’t want that to be me, and I’m sure you feel the same way. So ask yourself, do you want it or not? You only have one life, live your DREAM!
